Bird Netting Installation
Netting is the one bird system that closes a space rather than making a surface uncomfortable, which is why it is the answer for balconies, courtyards, canopies and warehouse rooflines where birds have room to move. It is also the system most often installed badly — sagging, badly anchored, or specified with the wrong mesh. This is the work we do most, and the part we are most particular about.

How we handle it

Survey and specification
We measure the volume to be closed, identify the species and the pressure, and specify the mesh size, net weight and cable layout to suit. Mesh sized for pigeons will not hold sparrows, and getting that decision wrong is the most common reason a netting job fails.

Anchoring
The perimeter cable is fixed with anchors chosen for what they are going into — concrete, block, steel, timber or cladding each take a different fixing. Anchors are set at spacings that hold the tension without loading any single point, and we work to the substrate rather than to whatever is quickest.

Tensioning and closing out
The net is hung and tensioned so it sits taut with no sag pockets, then every edge, corner and penetration is closed. Birds find the one gap you left, so the detailing around columns, pipework and returns is where the job is actually won.

Handover and inspection
We walk the finished install with you, show you the anchor lines and access zips, and leave documentation for the building file. Netting is installed to last — and we stand behind the work.

Common questions
Bird Netting Installation — straight answers
Will netting look obvious from the street?
Less than most people expect. Net is available in colours that read close to the building behind it, and a taut, well-tensioned install disappears at normal viewing distance. What people notice is a sagging net with loose edges, which is a workmanship issue rather than a netting issue.
Can birds get trapped behind the net?
Not on a correctly installed system. Part of the survey is confirming nothing is nesting inside the volume before it is closed, and the install is scheduled around that. Access zips are built in where a space needs to be entered later for maintenance or inspection.
How long does netting last in Calgary weather?
Properly specified net and correctly set anchors are a multi-year fix rather than a seasonal one — the material is made for UV and wind exposure. What shortens the life of a system is under-specified mesh, anchors set into the wrong substrate, and tension that was never right on day one.
We are a commercial site — can you work at height and around our operation?
Yes. Our technicians are fall-protection and ladder-safety certified, and we are fully insured and WCB covered, so the paperwork side is straightforward for a property manager or general contractor. Most rooflines and courtyards are done from a lift or from the roof, and we schedule around trading hours and loading bays.
