How we handle it

Locating the source
We work the odour back to a point — wall cavities, attic and insulation, duct and vent runs, soffits, and the exterior access the animal used. This is where most attempts go wrong: the wrong cavity gets opened, the smell continues, and now there is a hole to patch as well.

Removal
The carcass and any contaminated nesting material are removed with appropriate protective equipment and taken away sealed. Nesting material matters as much as the animal — leaving it behind leaves most of the odour and all of the insect activity.

Disinfection and deodorizing
The site is cleaned, disinfected and treated for residual odour, using products registered with Health Canada and applied by an Alberta-licensed technician. Deodorizer over a source that is still in place does nothing but delay the conversation.

Closing the way in
We identify how the animal got there and what needs sealing so this is not an annual event. Most dead-animal calls are the tail end of a rodent, bird or wildlife problem that was never closed off.

Dead Animal & Bird Removal — straight answers
If I just wait, how long will the smell last?
Longer than most people expect, and it depends on the size of the animal, the temperature and the humidity around it. A mouse in a cool exterior wall can take weeks; a squirrel or a bird in a warm attic or a duct run is a much longer proposition and brings flies with it. Waiting it out is a genuine option only for the smallest cases.
Will you have to cut into my wall?
Sometimes, but it is the last resort rather than the first move. We work from the least invasive access we can — attic, crawlspace, vent and duct openings, existing service holes. If a cut is genuinely necessary we agree it with you first, keep it as small as the job allows and put it somewhere sensible to repair.
What about the flies that have appeared with it?
They are a normal part of this and they are also a useful pointer, since flies gathering at one window usually sit directly below or beside the source. Once the carcass and the material around it are gone, that population has nothing to breed in and dies out. We treat the immediate area where it is warranted.
Can I not just use an odour spray or a fogger?
It masks the smell while the source keeps producing it, so you end up buying time rather than fixing anything. It also does nothing about the beetles and flies that feed on the remains later, which is a second problem people meet a few weeks after they thought it was over.
