How we handle it

Attic inspection
We measure coverage across the whole attic, not just at the hatch, and check ventilation, baffles, moisture staining, wiring and fixture clearances, and whether anything has been living up there. What we find decides whether this is a top-up, a partial replacement or a full removal.

Removal where it is needed
Contaminated, water-damaged or badly compacted material is vacuumed out and bagged, with containment at the access point so the house stays clean. Sound insulation stays — we are not going to charge you to remove material that is doing its job.

Seal, screen and prepare
Before anything is blown in, entry points get sealed, vents get screened, baffles are set so the soffits stay clear, and fixtures and access hatches are dammed off. Insulation installed over open gaps just gives the next mouse a warmer place to nest.

Blow-in installation
New material is blown to an even, agreed depth across the deck, with vents and clearances protected and depth markers left so anyone can check it later. We walk the finished attic and leave you a record of what was removed, what went in and where the seals are.

Insulation Blow-In & Replacement — straight answers
Can you blow new insulation on top of what is already there?
Sometimes. If the existing material is dry, clean and uncontaminated, topping up over it is reasonable and common. If it is soiled from a rodent or bird problem, water damaged, or matted to the point where it is holding moisture, adding on top just buries the problem — and it will still be there when you sell the house.
How messy is it?
Less than people fear, and containment is the reason. The work runs through a hose from the truck to the attic hatch, the route is sheeted, and removal is vacuumed out into sealed bags rather than carried through the house. We tidy the access area before we leave and you should not be finding fibres a week later.
Why would I use a pest company for insulation?
Because in Calgary most attic insulation gets replaced for pest reasons, and the crews doing it usually are not the ones who know what a rodent runway looks like or which vent screen a squirrel will beat. We read the attic first and insulate second, so the animal problem is closed before the new material goes down.
Will this lower my heating bill?
Honestly, we are not going to put a number on that — too much depends on the house, the existing insulation, the air sealing and how you heat. What we will say is that insulation which has been tunnelled through, compressed or displaced is not doing what it was installed to do, and restoring even coverage is what puts it back to work.
